The Prompt Recipe: Role + Task + Context + Format
Write a clear prompt using a simple four-part recipe that gets great results the first time.
One vague line gets vague junk. A good prompt has four parts:
- Role — who AI plays: "You're a friendly Alberta electrician."
- Task — the one job: "Write a text reply to this customer."
- Context — the real details: names, prices, dates, the actual message.
- Format — the shape out: "3 short lines, no jargon, ready to send."
In practice
Role: local Alberta business owner. Task: name the one job. Context: paste the real names, prices, and the actual message. Format: say the length and shape you want back.
The rest is free too — it just needs a seat.
