The C.R.A.F.T. Prompt — Your Signature Recipe
Lock in one memorable five-part framework you can run in your head for any prompt, forever.
You've met the four parts of a good prompt. Now let's turn them into something you'll never forget — a single word you can run through your head before you hit send. At AltaPro AI School we call it The C.R.A.F.T. Prompt, because good prompting is a craft, and this is the recipe:
- C — Character. Who should the AI be? 'You're a friendly café owner.' 'Act as a plain-speaking accountant.' This sets the tone instantly. - R — Request. What exactly do you want done? 'Write a reply to this review.' 'Summarise this email.' Be specific — one clear job. - A — Add context. The real details only you know: your prices, what happened, the customer, your policy. This is the biggest lever of all. - F — Format. How should the answer look? Length, tone, a list or a table, any must-includes. 'Under 80 words, warm, no jargon.' - T — Tweak. The answer is a first draft, not a verdict. Reply and refine: 'shorter', 'more casual', 'add a price'. This is where good becomes great.
Any owner runs Character, Request, Add context, Format — then Tweaks — and gets a usable answer nearly every time.
The rest is free too — it just needs a seat.
