How do I get my company to show up when a customer asks ChatGPT for the best electrician in town instead of Googling?

Assistants repeat what they can read about you elsewhere. Get your name, address and phone identical everywhere it appears, keep your Google Business Profile current, and make sure a page on your own site states plainly what you do and where. Consistency across sources beats clever wording on one page.

This matters more each month. BrightLocal found the share of consumers using AI to find a local business went from 6% to 45% in a single year, while assistants surface only a small handful of businesses per question. Being invisible there is a slow revenue leak that does not show up in any dashboard you currently watch.

The mechanism is different from search ranking. An assistant is assembling an answer from whatever it can find written about you across the web — your own site, your Google Business Profile, directories, news, anywhere your business is described. If those sources disagree about your name, your trade or your service area, you become an unreliable fact, and unreliable facts get left out of answers.

So the first job is boring and it is the one that works: make your business name, address and phone number byte-identical everywhere they appear. Then make sure one page on your own site says, in plain sentences, exactly what you do and exactly which towns you serve. Not a slogan — a sentence a machine can quote.

The second job is to exist in more than one place. A single website with nothing else pointing at it gives an assistant one weak source. Being described consistently across several independent places is what makes you safe to cite.
