Emails & Newsletters People Actually Open

Write subject lines that earn the open and emails people finish — so your list makes you money instead of quietly ignoring you.

Your email has two jobs, in order: get opened, then get read. Most owners obsess over the body and phone in the subject line — so nobody opens it and the body never gets seen.

Work it in that order:

  • Subject line first. "Give me 10 subject lines under 6 words. Curious or useful, not spammy."
  • Preview text counts. The first line shows in the inbox too — don't waste it on "Hi everyone."
  • One email, one point, one action. Ask AI to cut it to a single clear ask.
In practice

Whatever your list is for, write the subject line as its own job first, make the first line worth reading in the preview, and give the email exactly one thing to do.

The rest is free too — it just needs a seat.
