Keep Your Business Data Safe
Use AI without leaking customer details, passwords, or anything you'd regret — know what's safe to paste and what to strip first.
AI is a helper, not a vault. Treat the chat box like an email you might accidentally forward:
- Never paste secrets — passwords, card or bank numbers, SINs, full customer lists
- Redact before you paste — swap real names and numbers for "[Customer]" and keep the useful part
- Turn off "train on my chats" if the setting exists — check your tool's data controls
- Free public tools aren't private — read what they keep before you trust them
In practice
Whatever you paste, share the problem, not the person — swap real names, numbers, and account details for placeholders, keep secrets out entirely, and check your tool's privacy settings so your data isn't quietly used to train it.
The rest is free too — it just needs a seat.
